7 July 2026 - The Recognise Tyrone Beach campaign has now passed 1,000 verified petition signatures.
A formal submission has been prepared for Mornington Peninsula Shire, requesting that Council consider initiating a community consultation process regarding recognition of Tyrone Beach as a locality.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign.
At the time the article was prepared, more than 700 people had signed the petition. That number has now grown to over 850 supporters.

22 May 2026 - Just two days after posting our 100 signature update, the Recognise Tyrone Beach campaign has now passed 200 petition signatures, and we’ve barely started letterboxing.
The strong early response demonstrates growing community support for formal recognition of the Tyrone Beach area, with the overwhelming majority of signatories either from the local area or from Melbourne residents with a strong connection to the community.
20 May 2026 - We’ve now passed 100 signatures in just a few days in support of recognising Tyrone Beach as a locality.

The area from White Cliffs to Blairgowrie and inland to Melbourne Road has long had its own distinct identity, and it’s encouraging to see growing community support for formal recognition.
15 May 2026 - This week, the Recognise Tyrone Beach campaign officially began.
In just a few days, a petition has been launched, a website and Facebook page have been established, and flyers and posters have begun rolling out across the local area.
This campaign is calling for the formal recognition of Tyrone Beach as its own locality on the Mornington Peninsula. While Tyrone Beach is widely recognised by locals, visitors and businesses, it currently lacks formal locality recognition.
We believe this distinct coastal community deserves clear geographic recognition that reflects its identity and history.
